Welcome 2009!

I think 2009 will be very exciting for me..
I'm gonna have a job on the 3rd of January.. and I'm gonna work with my Mom.
I know.. awkward.. but I don't mind.. I reaaaally need the money right now. I only have like $64 on my account.. my Dad borrowed my $500 for that brand new car he brought..

It's gonna be exciting as well because it's like "Judgement year" for me whether I am able to go back to the Phils to celebrate my debut or not.. I know it'll cost a thousand or more bucks, but if I'm gonna work hard, maybe I could go back

Hmm. what else. ooh! I'm gonna be in 12th grade this September. My final year in highschool.. *sigh* And after that I'm gonna face the toughest stage of all time: COLLEGE. Wonder if I'll survive..

For some reason, I can feel a romantic opportunity in the upcoming year.. I almost had a relationship this year, and my record being single is not yet broken though. So yeah.. I dunno.. Depends if I'm gonna find a man who's love-worthy.

January 2, 2009
I thought I was having a bad day because I have a bad feeling I won't be hired in Vireo..

So I waited for the bus for 15 minutes or so under a -23 temperature.. I warmed myself up inside the bus.. I was busy looking at my lonely cellphone and listening to my iPod when a guy sat beside me.. I was like "wow.. there are many vacant seats and why did he sit beside me?"I looked at him and it was this guy I liked a few months ago..

He came out of nowhere! Fate? I dunno His mom was there as well. We're kind of family friends, but not that close though.. So yeah.. we talked.. It was kind of awkward for me because I didn't know I'll see him again. He kept on opeing conversations.. As if he misses me.. Well, I do miss him too^^

And he mentioned he might go to my school next year.. I dunno if I should be happy or what about that.. But at least it'll be a chance to know him more^^*sighs and smiles*Wow.. This is gonna be an exciting year for me :D

Oh Christmas

Christmas is in the air.. And I'm so numb that I can't feel the love given by everyone. It was kind of embarrassing though that everyone was giving me presents of all sizes, and all I can do is to say "Thank you" and give a hug. I'm not used of being treated so... nicely. Well, it doesn`t mean that I`m a meanie or something.. But when people give me gifts, I always give something in return. But now.. It just feels so... weird... Maybe this is the true essence of Chrismas or something. And this is my only Christmas that I haven`t bought anyone anything :(

So yeah. This Christmas is going to be different. I got used with the.. let`s say traditional Christmas back in Cebu.. After waiting for the clock`s hands to hit 12, we exchange gifts; open them; go outside for fireworks; go to the neighbors` houses for some food and stuff.. And other randomness `til we get sleepy.

This is my first White Christmas.. Literally. And it`s the coldest Christmas in my life. Well, depends if it`ll get colder next year. I can`t go outside, hug my friends and stuff... And yes, this is a big thing. It`s hard if you get used with things and suddenly it`ll change. :(

And here comes to the topic my bestfriend`s 19th birthday.. No, I don`t want her to be sad and lonely. I want her to have the best birthday of her life. That`ll make me super =`]

Oh wow... 2008 has been so interesting and fast... Next year will be a big stress.. *sigh*
But I'm not being a pessimist OK? I have really high hopes.. I wish they'll coordinate with me though.

Merry Christmas and have a wonderul 2009 :D

Fast Forward

A lot of things are happening in my life right now, and these are countless ups and downs.

First of all is the long distance thing.. I don't want to elaborate more, but yeah. That was such a roller coaster ride.

Then these things in school happened so fast.. Projects, tests, and OMG... The article I made for the school paper made the front page.. It was an honor for me and the Filipinos^^ I'll post my article soon.

Now this is the tricky part..
What if you met someone and he treats you like his own girlfriend after telling him you just like him?
I know, it's pretty fast.
And gossips were flying everywhere.. Misinterpretations here and there.. and *sigh*
I don't know.. It was kind of creepy for my part.. Honestly...
The hell I haven't been in a serious relationship... So how am I going to move along? And.. uhm.. I'm not ready to have one.. I'm enjoying life too much right now; so I don't want it to get it caught by a serious relationship... I may like him, but love is such a different thing..

I didn't know Calgary would give me such an exciting and interesting life here..
It seems like yesterday was my first day here...
*sigh*

I hope I can pull this through without breaking anyone's heart :(

Caught in Between

Who wouldn't love having new friends? After a month or so at school, I found circles of friends. Yes, CIRCLES. "It's better!", you thought? Well, actually it's not. In most aspects, it is; but there are times when I think that I wish I only have a few friends.

I've got two circles. One in my TA (Teacher Advisory) and my fellow kababayans. I get to see my TA friends more than my Filipino friends because TA is everyday. Let me define my TA friends first.
Before everything happened, I was the silent little girl. But then J came and introduced herself. She then introduced me to the rest fo her friend, C. After a few days, I noticed a new student named M is as lonely as me. She speaks broken english. I helped her in her struggle in school. I became her bestfriend. Then comes another new student named I. She speaks broken english as well. So we're a 5-way circle. J,C,M,I and me. Yes, they are fun to be with. ANd yes, I do like them. But sometimes, they, especially M and I, are becoming too dependent to me. They go everywhere I want to go... Even if I'm with my second circle. Having them in my second circle makes me feel guilty because they become "out of place". Ofcourse we speak our native language because that's who we are. I admit I tend to leave them, but I think that I have to. I don't want to let my Filipino Friends think that I don't like them or I don't like their company. I love their company as much as I love the company of my MC circle (multi-cultural).

OK, now skip them. Let's talk about my Filo circle. I met them after helping them with their new presence in school during picture taking. We spend a lot of time outside school and I truly enjoy their company. They treat me like family, like every Filipino does. I admit I like to spend time with them more than my MC friends because my MC friends have different interests than me.

The worst part is, I saw M cry right infront of me. She cried because she felt alone. It was because there was a day when I didn't spend it with her. There are only two of them of the same culture in school. She couldn't relate to anyone else in school except me. I have this "ability" of able to understand people even if they couldn't express themselves well. That made me close to her. *sighs*
It's not that I don't like her... It's just that, I can't enjoy my school life as much if she sticks to me forever. I feel so bad when I'm guilty. And now, I'm caught in between. So in between.
If only there are two of me..

I wish this will be resolved without hurting anyone.

School blues

September 3-4, 2008
The official day of class.

You have no idea how nervous I was during the orientation. I didn't know anyone. Well, except for my own brother, ofcourse. So I felt like an alien. Actually I am an alien in this country.

Anyway, there I was, feeling like a ghost in the crowded hallways. New faces everywhere. Odd languages. Friendly teachers. You know, the usual school stuff; usual foreign school stuff that is.

After my first orientation in TA (Teacher Advisory), someone approached me. She introduced herself as Jin. I was like "Oh, the girl from the student council". She introduced me to her friend, Claire, who was also a Korean like her. And I found myself smiling. "New friends", I told myself.
Jin was so kind to show me around school. And she had no idea how happy I was. Her showing me around my new campus, I didn't feel like an alien anymore. I felt like I belong. I headed home with a smile of satisfaction.

So the next day came. It's time to meet the teachers of my different classes. English came first. I didn't know I'm taking advanced english until a friend of mine told me. Some terms made me "Woah." But I'm catching up now. I feel comfortable in this class, especially that I made a couple of friends in that class alone. Everyone was pretty friendly. Miss Picone has a challening and flexible personality. Quite challenging indeed.

I then found myself walking towards A hallway, on my way to Biology-20. "Great. Bio. Memorization again."
Yes, it's my bio the second time around. But actually, Mr. Crichton is a pretty cool teacher. And I'm catching up with Biology quite easily. And I also made a bunch of friends. And this guy.. Well, this guy. XD
Never mind. I like someone in my Bio. Actually he's in my TA, too. He's this so-called "inspiration" of mine in school. He's a cool and nice guy. We're friends, but I can't tell if we're close. :P

And then PhysEd came. On the first day, we played basketball. And unexpectedly, I rocked the court! We (3 girls, along with me, and a guy) won over an all-guy team. And I was the top scorer in the team. And they called me a basketball player, which I'm completely not. lol. PhysEd was fun, but I still have to adjust to the altitude and humidity of Calgary since it's completely different from the Philippine's. And Miss Berze is also a cool teacher. :)

Finally, it's Math. My subject of forte, but not actually my total favorite. Mr. Walker is a nice guy, and teaches the subject perfectly. My marks are pretty good. I hope it'll last. :)

School gave me the chance to develop myself and challenge my confidence. It was tough at first, but my new found friends made me stronger. I'm much more comfortable now than I was before. I hope I could find a new circle of friends whom I could hang out with so I won't feel homesick anymore. Honestly, I need that circle now. I'm not that desperate, but yeah. I just don't want to feel lonely. =[

My First Birthday

Congratulate me for being a year old! Yes, it was my birthday last 20th of August.

Actually, I turned 17 years old. But I consider it my first birthday since it's my first celebration without the presence of my friends :(

I used to have fun with this day. Just a simple siomai-for-all, pizza night, or even a blow-the-candle tradition. But this time, naaaaah. Just a dinner buffet with a bunch of.. Let's say "out-of-teeners".

They were very nice to give me some presents. But it isn't the same.

I don't mind if I get to spend a lot of money. As long as the people I truly love is around me, I'm so happy.

And the worst part?

A lot of people forgot my birthday :(

I even thought my best-est friend forgot my birthday. She greeted late.

And I was expecting her to be online on my day since it was the week of her intramurals.

But she wasn't.

Well, maybe I shouldn't expect next time or I'll end up being disappointed like this time. :(

And I'm gonna save all of my happiness up for next year.

Hopefully, we can save enough money for us to go back to Cebu and celebrate my "womanhood" there.

Maybe I'll see you around soon :)

Why the Lost Pirate

The 25th of May, 2008; Sunday.
Location: Cebu, Philippines
As we walked through the halls of the ever-busy airport, tears drop from both of the parties' faces. It's time to say goodbye to the island and the people I dearly love. Another chapter of my life is ahead of me. Should I be afraid, or get excited? Well, I really didn't know 'til we arrived our destination.

Still the 25th of May, 2008; Sunday.
Location: Vancouver
Time: 9:58 PM
I found myself in the airport again; waiting for someone to pick us up. I saw two men whom I never met before. Dad said they're my uncles. So I greeted them and kissed their hands. It was a cold evening in the Great North. Well, as expected ofcourse. The city lights were amazing. Something that Cebu doesn't have. The wondrous smell of pine tingled my nose as we arrived at their home. While unpacking 6 big Balikbayan boxes and 4 baggages, I thought of how long our trip was and how far we are from home. Just thinking about it made my cry again. It'll be a very long time 'til I'll meet the people I love again.

27th of May, 2008
Location: Calgary
Once again, we rode a plane on our way to somewhere a bit nearer... We ahve landed on our target spot, Calgary "The Windy City", Alberta, Canada. We waited for almost an hour for a family. They're not just a family, but my classmate's (Quiney's) family. They welcomed us with full of Filipino hospitality. I admit Quiney and I weren't that close, but they treated us like family. We stayed in their humble home for about two weeks and found ourselves in Calgary's NorthWest side.

Finally, we got an apartment of our own. It was like living life all over again. It wasn't easy. Since I had lots of time to kill, I looked for a job and settled at Arby's Northland Foodcourt. There, I found co-workers whom I consider friends. But they're not comparable to the ones I have back in Cebu. And they're mostly older than me, anyway. And one friend of mine has somehow, made me "ecstatic" to live here. Well, I consider him as my friend, I hope he does too. At least he's here to make my day. :)

So far, that's the "exciting" life I have here. It's almost Septemeber, so the cold and the classes are fast approcahing. Hoooorah. *sarcasm* And did I mention I'm getting fat? This always happen when you're new here. I'm still adjusting to the weather conditions and the food here. So I hope this "physical change" is something I shouldn't worry about.

Oh. So why the lost pirate?
I consider myself lost in a place where destiny and opportunity is abundant. yes, it is true you'll find everything easy here; but I still consider myself lost. Where's this compass I should use?
And a pirate because I have to find meee treasure. Aargh. I haven't figured out that goal I should head, and what am I really here for. Yes, I am still clueless even we've been living here for almost 3 months already. I'm still praying for strength and direction.

Maybe someday, I will not be the lost pirate anymore and I'd find myself a ship where I can reside and use to find more treasures in the mere future. :D
